Telehealth with Rehab Excellence Center

Expert and Individualized Care; Delivered Virtually

Rehab Excellence Center is excited to offer Telehealth or Telerehab as a treatment solution for our existing patients who are unable to attend treatment sessions in the clinic. Our licensed physical therapists are able to provide skilled physical therapy to our existing patients via a secure, HIPAA compliant video platform. The telehealth platform allows our patients to continue progressing towards their functional goals with face to face virtual care. Our physical therapists will progress and guide patients through their individualized programs while patients are in the convenience of their homes.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth physical therapy (Telerehab), or virtual physical therapy, is the use of video and other electronic communication methods, allowing physical therapists the opportunity to deliver both information and the treatment session to patients remotely. Telehealth has been growing in popularity throughout the healthcare field.  Today, it is more frequently being used in physical therapy settings, as patients are requesting more efficient and less expensive ways to access physical therapy care.

What are the benefits of telehealth?

While there is no substitute for wide-ranging advantages of “on-site” physical therapy in the clinic, there are certain times when telerehab is advantageous, including issues with travel and logistics.  Additional benefits include:

  • One-on-one: you’ll spend more time with your therapist one-on-one
  • Receive treatment anywhere: whether you’re at home or on vacation, you can still have a video treatment session with your therapist
  • No travel required: this means less hassle and lower costs

Who is the appropriate telehealth patient?

Telehealth provides an option to any patient who faces reoccurring logistical issues that impedes on their ability to receive physical therapy but there are certain patient populations and conditions where telerehab is especially appropriate. These include the following:

  • Orthopedic Injuries: Older adults with conditions that affect their mobility and physical function—like osteoporosis, arthritis, and balance disorders—may struggle to get to in-person appointment and may be better suited for Telerehab.
  • Workers’ Comp patients: Whether an injury on the job needs an immediate assessment or an injured worker is trying to get back to full strength, Telerehab may allow quick and convenient access to our services.
  • Chronic conditions: Patients with these conditions often require a more intensive and frequent level of care at first and then transition to routine checkups in the long term, which is made easier with video visits.
  • Post-hospital recovery: Patients recovering from surgeries and medical procedures will need to be regularly monitored after leaving the hospital, but traveling can be difficult in their condition prior to becoming more ambulatory; Telerehab solves this issue in the interim by bringing care directly to the patient.

Learn more about telehealth at Rehab Excellence Center

Rehab Excellence Center uses the PhysiTrack telehealth platform for all of our telerehab sessions. This software not only allows our physical therapists to communicate with patients through convenient video visits, but also offers several convenient features such as built-in home-exercise programs, educational tools and outcome measure assessments that can be used to track your progress through an exercise program.

A Message To Our Customers,

Rehab Excellence Center’s Commitment to Patients and Safety

The world has been facing an unprecedented challenge with the COVID-19 Pandemic. Like you, we have been deeply concerned and want to do what we can to help keep our customers, communities and families safe and healthy.

Rehab Excellence Center takes the responsibility to our customers, our teams and our patients very seriously and we are working to make sure our customers have access to our quality care in the safest manner possible.

After listening to the appropriate sources for accurate and up-to-date information, we have been taking sensible steps to make sure our preparedness plan reflects those inputs.  We will continue to monitor the situation and make any changes to ensure a high level of safety for our patients.

What We’re Doing:

  • Providing physical therapy services in a small and controlled visit setting (Single Therapist Office) and typically just 1-3 patients in the room during the patient visit. Following social distancing guidelines is a requisite.

  • Following CDC guidelines, we kindly require our patients to wear masks to protect the health and safety of our patients and staff during their physical therapy visits.

  • Equipping each REC facility with a Non-Contact Infrared Forehead Thermometer, providing fast and reliable body temperature measurement (1 second testing).

  • We are encouraging all of our patients to thoroughly clean their hands with either our alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water (and for 20 seconds or longer each time). Washing your hands with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand-rub kills viruses that may be carried on the hands.

  • Our employees are also working diligently to ensure everyone is following our existing protocols for hand-washing, disinfecting and sanitizing equipment, treatment tables, waiting areas, bathrooms, door knobs, and other general areas.

  • Per the World Health Organization (WHO), we suggest patients stay home if they feel unwell and we can re-schedule their appointment for a later date. If they have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, we ask they call REC in advance and seek medical attention. Calling in advance will allow their health care provider to quickly direct them to the right health facility and better protect them and help prevent the spread of viruses and other infections.

We recognize this is a challenging time for all and we remain deeply committed to the safety of our customers, teams and communities.  Our patients and customers are the heart of our business and we thank you for your long-standing trust in Rehab Excellence Center, as we continue to navigate this uncertain period ahead.

Kind regards,

Rob Hicks
